Ekenäs Archipelago National Park - Cottages and Vacation Rentals
Enjoy an unforgettable summer outing to this lovely part of Finland's coastal archipelago with its larger wooded islands, small rocky islets and open seascapes. Watch majestic white-tailed eagles soaring overhead. Take a boat excursion from Ekenäs to one of the main islands, or head off to explore smaller islands and bays in your own sailboat or kayak.
Jussarö Island, located in the southeastern corner of the National Park, is the second largest island in the park. It is a large forested island, which is unusual considering its location in the outer archipelago. The island is divided into two parts. On the western side grows forest which has not been touched for centuries. Therefore the forest has features of an old-growth forest, which is rare in the sea zone. On the western side, moving is allowed only on the nature trails. The landscape on the eastern side of the island has been strongly affected by mining, which was practised in the mid 1900s.
Jussarö can be reached by regular ferry services during the summer from the Baggöharbor to the East from Ekenäs city and with a taxiboat. The island offers accommodation, sauna, guest harbor and café services for tourists.
