Järämä fortification area

Enontekiö

These underground corridors, trenches and gun nests were built by German soldiers during WWII. The fortification area was built to protect the Arctic harbours from heavy attacks. It is extremely well preserved and offers a wide array of activities that could span several days when visitors dive into the depths of Lapland’s history. In addition to exploring Lappish nature, visitors can enjoy the exhibition that depicts events from the Lapland War, as well as sample local delicacies at the café.
