Koli National Park - Cottages and Vacation Rentals
Koli is no mountain in international scale, but for Finns it’s one of the most iconic mountains of the whole country. This group of forested hills is located in Eastern Finland right next to beautiful lake Pielinen. Koli has been a huge attraction for more than a century! The oldest official hiking path originates from year 1896! Koli has inspired many of the iconic Finnish artists from composer Sibelius to painter Järnefelt. No wonder that Koli is one of the official National landscapes.
Most of the Koli area is in Koli National Park. This national park has been divided into three different areas. The first area includes the highest peak of the montain the Ukko-Koli ridge. Second area includes traditional farm houses and the cultural landscapes of ancient Finland. The third area is the rest of the park where the nature is preserved.
Most of the activities in Koli region revolve around the nature. There are many hiking paths of different lengths and difficulty. The shortest are good for a couple hour trip as the longest take a couple of days. Some paths have pretty demanding parts, but the sights are worth a little climb. There are also two ski resorts and many small activity providers in the area.
There are plenty of accommodation alternatives in Koli. The usual hotels are fine, but if you really want to experience the area, you should stay in one of the many cabins. They are located pretty near to the hot spots, but you still have your own spot in the peaceful nature.
