Verlan uittotupa
cottage, Repovesi - Verla, Kouvola, 4+2 persons

The Uittotupa of Verla is a cabin formerly owned by the Timber Rafting Association of Mantyharju. It’s where the rafters used to stay the night after a hard day’s work. There was a bigger cabin next to it, but that was later dismantled.  Uittotupa is a part of the World Heritage Site Verla. It’s along the Puun tie – canoeing route that goes from Repovesi to Verla.

The cabin was closed from the public for a long time, but it was opened as one of the accommodation destinations along the Puun tie – canoeing route in 2014. The roof and the exterior were renovated first and in the spring of 2014 the students of Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences restored the interior. The aim was to recreate and maintain the same atmosphere that existed in the old cabin.

The reservations and maintenance of the Verla cottages and cabins is managed by Repovalkea Oy. The cottages and cabins are owned and operated by UPM-Kymmene Oyj. The destinations are part of the World Heritage Site.

The cabin type, yard and the beach

The Uittotupa of Verla is a recently renovated wooden cabin from the early 20th century with a hallway and an open main room. There is a separate dry toilet outside.  The cabin is on top of the rock with the rock paintings at the start of the Verlankoski rapids. The shore is rocky and the current is strong. The cabin is suited for 4-6 people. If you are travelling with a bigger party, please contact us before making a booking.

Uittotupa is located in the heart of Verla on the rock with the ancient rock paintings. There is a walkway to the cabin from the dam bridge. You cannot drive up to the cabin. Parking is at the Mill Museum.
