Karhunkierros

The most popular hiking route in Finland manages to enchant hikers year after year. The king of hiking trails, Karhunkierros, or the Bear’s Trail, can be found under the watchful eye of Salla in the majestic landscape of Kuusamo. It has been a favourite among hikers for more than 60 years, and covers both short and long routes that suit hikers of different fitness levels. Finishing the route is no mean feat, and anyone can turn the hike into their own Lappish adventure. You’ll cross suspension bridges, fill your bottle from rapids, see the white tops of some familiar fells and climb enormous rocks. While resting in a cabin or at a campfire in the middle of nowhere, you’ll know you’re having a trip of your life.
