Pyhä-Häkki National Park - Cottages and Vacation Rentals
The Pyhä-Häkki National Park in Saarijärvi has the finest old-growth forest in southern Finland. The park’s centuries-old majestic pine trees have seen rulers come and go and survived several forest fires. In spring, the air is filled with the sounds of birdsong and woodpeckers tapping in search of larvae. The clearly marked hiking trails in Pyhä-Häkki pass through wide open stretches of mire. The Kotajärvi cooking shelter is an ideal place for a snack break. The 17 km Tulijärvi circular trail is also suitable for overnight treks. The Poika-aho Crown Tenant Farm takes you back to the days of the early settlers in this remote wilderness. In summer, the farm is home to shepherding vacationers and sheep grazing in the meadows. The Pyhä-Häkki old-growth forest is also ideal for snowshoeing. Its majestic towering treetops make even the busiest passers-by stop and admire the wonders of nature.
